Managing your “get to”s & “got to”s

Have you already stopped your diet as well as your fitness plan of eating right?

Well, you’re in good company. So many people fall off the horse in the process of a routine. So I want to give you some tips about getting moving again.

In this video, I’ll jump into 1 Timothy 4, and then we will review what you say about things. It’s so powerful what we say we have “got to” do and the things we “get to” do. Our body feels the movement of the mindset.

But first, some perspective. Paul is saying in this chapter 4 of 1st Timothy that recognizing your bodily discipline is good, but there is an even more critical set of routines that will be valuable both in this life and the future. They are centered on speech, conduct, faith, love, and purity. These will draw us to God and help us be more like him. An even bigger bonus is in doing these things!

But on top of that, Paul is encouraging Timothy that bodily discipline is good because it leads to godliness. And why we want these disciplines because we want to be under control to ensure that our flesh is not ruling us.

Well, here’s what I want you to think about while you’re riding the horse now.

First, manage your “get to”s, and your “got to”s.

Second, set up your cues and rewards to go after a better routine.

For example, set your shoes out to run or leave your bible with a pen open to remind me that now is my time to read scripture. I then remember the rewards I will feel after the routine.

You do these things because you are excited to lean in on things that serve you while you serve Christ. Set up your “get to,” get back on the horse quickly, and then set up the cues and rewards for success!

In your corner,

Jeff Gerhardt
