The Scale You Want to Step On

You may have stepped on a scale recently to measure certain health factors. Yet, there is another measurement I want you to consider. When was the last time you stepped on a scale to measure your life?

You know, in The Master’s Program, we talk about how “what gets measured, gets better”. In the same way you wouldn’t try to improve your physical health without knowing your starting point, you can’t enhance your life’s impact without understanding where you stand today.

Think about the different areas of your life: your relationship with God, your family, your career, your health, your finances, and your service to others. Are they in harmony, or are some areas getting shortchanged while others consume all your energy?

I know a leader who for years thought he was doing great because his business was thriving. But, when he actually measured his life across all dimensions, he realized his relationship with his teenage kids was suffering. That awareness became the catalyst for meaningful change.

That was me! I was that man more than a decade ago. It all changed because I measured.

You see, living a fruitful life isn’t about being perfect in every area. It’s about understanding where you are and making intentional choices about growth. It’s about knowing which areas need more attention and which ones might need pruning. We often talk about being on mission, but how can we truly be on mission if we don’t know our current coordinates?

This is exactly why we’ve developed the Life Balance Assessment. This isn’t just another personality test or career assessment. It’s a comprehensive tool designed specifically for believers who want to live lives of eternal impact. It helps you measure what matters most, not just the obvious things like career success or financial stability. It measures the deeper aspects of your life that contribute to true fruitfulness.

Here’s what makes this assessment different; it’s built on the biblical principles we teach in The Master’s Program. It looks at your life through the lens of eternal significance. Are you just successful, or are you truly fruitful? Are you building something that will last beyond your lifetime?

The assessment covers crucial areas like your spiritual growth, family relationships, career stewardship, and Kingdom impact. But more than just giving you scores, it helps you identify patterns and opportunities for growth. It shows you where you might be over-invested in temporary success at the expense of eternal impact.

I’m particularly excited about how this tool can spark meaningful conversations. When you complete the assessment, you’ll have concrete data to discuss with your spouse, your mentors, or your accountability partners. It’s not about comparing yourself to others – it’s about getting an honest picture of where you are today so you can make intentional choices about tomorrow.

Don’t rush through it.

Be honest with yourself.

Use it as a starting point for plotting your course this year.

Remember, this isn’t about achieving perfection. It’s about gaining awareness and taking intentional steps toward the life God has called you to lead. Just as a scale gives you data to make better health decisions, this assessment gives you insights to make better life decisions.

In your corner,
Jeff
