The Impossible Probable

Welcome to this new series in the Insider Journal. High achieving people often wonder – “how much can I really see happen in my life?”  Over the next five episodes, we’re diving into how we can achieve more than we’ve ever imagined—drawing straight from Ephesians 3:20-21 where Paul reminds us, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.” That’s our anchor: God’s power working in us for God-sized visions. In this series, we’ll unpack the barriers that hold us back and how to step into that “immeasurably more” life. Today, in Part 1, we’re starting with this: You can do more than you’ve ever imagined. But how are you getting in your own way?

Let me kick things off with a story from my own life that still amazes me when I think about it. Back in the early 2000s, I was climbing the corporate ladder at a Fortune 500 company, staring down the barrel of what could have been massive financial success—stock options, bonuses, the whole deal. My family was long settled in California, kids in great schools, life humming along. But deep down, I had this vision coming up near the end of my first time through The Master’s Program: move to Texas, launch a consulting business to help leaders thrive, and get behind a mission focused on the Middle East, equipping believers in some of the toughest spots on earth. Even now it sounds insane. Friends and family thought I was nuts. “Jeff, you’re at the peak—why risk it all?”. There was this massive gap between my comfortable executive life and this wild, uncharted vision. Evidence was there—I’d seen others build successful consultancies, families relocate smoothly, and ministries make real impact—but bridging that gap? It felt like jumping off a cliff without a net.

The problem hits close to home for so many of us as we might dream big, but we sabotage ourselves by not loving the gap between where we are and where God and the vision we have might be inviting us. That gap—the space of uncertainty, growth, and stretching—triggers fear of failure, or what we might call unbelief. It’s not that we doubt God’s ability, or even our own; it’s that we’re terrified of the cost. Will it wreck our finances? What if God’s not in it or I heard Him wrong? What about our relationships? Our reputation? For me, that fear appeared as hesitation, second-guessing every step. As busy executives and entrepreneurs, we face this tension daily: the pull between playing it safe in our life and pursuing purposeful impact that demands risk. We know God promises provision, but unbelief whispers, “What if it doesn’t work? What if you lose everything?” And suddenly, we’re stuck, settling for good when God has “immeasurably more” waiting.

Here’s the action step, centered in that Ephesians promise: embrace the gap as part of God’s growth process. Remember how in Session 1 of The Master’s Program, we explore perspective—seeing life through an eternal lens? That’s key. The Bema Seat judgment in 2 Corinthians 5:10 isn’t about salvation; it’s about rewards for how we stewarded our time, talents, and treasures. I leaned into that truth hard. God’s power “at work within us” isn’t abstract—it’s the Holy Spirit empowering us to take faith-steps. Practically, start by journaling the evidence: list past wins where God showed up, then name the costs you’re afraid of and reframe them into investments. Audit your decisions— are they driven by temporal security or the vision you have? For me, it was coaching myself through questions like, “What if the real failure is not trying?” Align your actions with this vision’s priorities: maybe delegate more or network with others who’ve bridged similar gaps.

The resolution comes when we flip the script on unbelief, transforming that gap into a growth zone. In my case, we made the move to Texas in 2016. The consulting business grew, serving leaders like you. And that Middle East mission now called Uncharted? It’s touched millions (yes millions – lookup “I Found the Truth” on Youtube.) Was it costly? Absolutely—financial dips, family adjustments, moments of doubt. But the transformation was profound: I grew in faith, resilience, and impact. This is your future. By loving the gap and trusting God’s power, you’ll step into achievements that glorify Him and expand your influence far beyond what you imagined.

So, here’s your call-to-action: This week, identify one dream where fear is holding you back. Write down the gap, the evidence that it’s possible, and one small step forward. Share your commitments with a coach or mentor.

In the end, friends, unbelief isn’t defeated by more proof; it’s overcome by choosing faith over fear. Because when God’s power works in us, the impossible becomes our story.
