As we enter the summer months and transition begins on numerous fronts… I see the need to launch into a new challenge.
My personal mission statement and challenge for the summer of 2023 is Grow in the Son – physically, relationally and intellectually. I am inviting the Holy Spirit to inform growth in all areas of the personal realm. As I respond to His daily invitation, I will need to navigate the tension of resistance training and releasing my own agenda.
With aging parents in Canada, a fast-growing grandson, and a busy travel schedule between me and my husband, I want to seek balance in relational fitness.
The need to release: I must release my tendency to hyper-focus on professional initiatives so that I can enjoy being fully present with loved ones. I plan on going to Canada to visit my parents and look forward to heart-felt conversations that will help me learn more about the man and woman they have become over the last year.
The need to resist: I need to be sure that I continue to walk in the disciplines I have carefully initiated to continue to grow spiritually, physically, relationally, and intellectually. I will be bringing books that challenge me intellectually. I will be taking walks, and hikes in my favorite areas of Nova Scotia. I will be guarding my quiet times with the Father in the early mornings before others awake.
It is easy for some of us to let down the guard rails of spiritual disciplines when we re-enter familiar territory. At least it is for me, so, through self-awareness, the tension becomes tangible. These new muscles of fitness do not need to be lost in the atrophy of apathy.
We learn in The Master’s Program to resist complacency by continuing to till the soil of self-ignorance. It helps when we do this in community.
Our scriptural emphasis in TMP is found in Hebrews 10:24:
“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.”
What is your mission statement for the summer? How will you grow in the Son? Where do you need to sow seeds of righteousness for a 100X harvest?
We’re in your corner,
Nadya
