Romero Canyon trail climbs 1,500 over Montecito, a wealthy enclave near Santa Barbara, CA.  One early morning I hit the trail on my mountain bike. The morning was foggy and cold. As I cleared 500 feet or so, I broke through the fog to a beautifully warm sunny day with miles of visibility. I thought this is exactly the difference between an earthly and a heavenly mindset. An earthly mindset cannot see hope, struggles to believe, and tends to lean into despair.

The heavenly mindset sees God is always engaged, working all things together for our good. Like love, it hopes for all things. Believes all things.

During your journey to LifeMastery in TMP – we discussed being healthy in the core of who you are – the Personal Realm, which includes your mind. We are distinguished from animals in that we can think about what we are thinking! Ask yourself, is my thinking more earthly or heavenly?

Our Father is always calling us up to a higher place of thinking. What new mindset has he been talking to you about? This question is vital for LifeMastery of the mind. Renewal of our mindsets leads to transformation in all areas. Our everyday thinking determines if we conform to earthly or heavenly actions.  

What’s your current dominant mindset?! I encourage you to sit with the Father and entertain this question. What new mindset is He asking you to adopt?

This week He has me developing a mindset that sees people as His image-bearers. As I am going through the week and seeing people intentionally and in passing, He has me appreciating that each one is created in His image. As I do, my mind is blown at how this shifts how I think, see and speak to people. My smile is bigger. My eyes are giving people honoring attention. Through this appreciation, I can feel the transfer of the love of God. As a result, my interactions have been more positive. Even in difficult interactions, I can feel myself responding in more generous and loving ways.  

God has given us the ability to change the way we think. Heavenly mindsets come through hearing Jesus guide us and then exercising new thoughts in real-time. Changing the way you think is not easy, but has a profound 100x impact on how we live and how people experience the glory of God living in us.
