How do you know life is going well? Can it be measured? At a time when our nation doesn’t seem to be in the best of conditions, it’s even more critical to know our own wellbeing status.
What tool can you use to measure your current wellbeing? How can you improve it?
In The Master’s Program, we are dedicated to pursuing LifeMastery in the 10 areas that we believe God has given only us to manage. In Session 1 of TMP we explore our current condition, where we’ve been, and where we are going in the areas of LifeMastery. Experiencing LifeMastery in our God-given responsibilities is possible when we intentionally evaluate where we’ve been, where we are, and where we are going. Without this information, navigation is impossible.
The marketplace provides some good tools to define and improve wellbeing. The Gallup Organization has done great amounts of research to define wellbeing. Not surprising, the research points to Biblical principles of living life to the full. Tom Rath presents this body of research in his book Wellbeing: The Five Essential Elements. He gives us five areas in which Gallup has measured wellbeing: in your career, financially, physically, socially, and in your community. The book includes an effective online Wellbeing Finder Assessment and tools to monitor and increase your wellbeing in all five areas.
Do you remember this book from Session 1? If not, take this opportunity to grab the book now and take the assessment. Your TMP learning objective is to understand the five areas of wellbeing and track your own wellbeing over time. The ultimate LifeMastery objective is to thrive in all five areas. Amplify your effectiveness by pursuing wellbeing together with others.
You can imagine that a thriving wellbeing is good for a person’s health and longevity. But does that same person’s thriving wellbeing impact the lives around them? You bet it does! When you’re living life to the full you are positively impacting and influencing those around you.
Jesus said, “Let your light shine before men so that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in Heaven.” (Matt. 5:16). Jesus is teaching us about being a guiding light to others. How many know you can call yourself a “Christian,” (which literally means ‘little Christ’) and still live a life that’s destructive to yourself and others? Being a light that guides others requires intentional living and an ongoing pursuit of LifeMastery. It requires strategic behavior refined over years. It requires an honest measurement of our status and the creation of new habits that are more and more Christ-like – not only in our Spiritual Realm, but in all categories.
Here at Priority Living, we are dedicated to you practicing LifeMastery and living your LifeMission, which is your God assigned Kingdom calling. Measuring, tracking, and improving your wellbeing is just one tool in the framework of The Master’s Program. If your wellbeing is thriving, praise God! If you know you could use a tune up, take this opportunity to take action now. Revisit Session 1 and the book Wellbeing: The Five Essential Elements.
