My fitness trainer told me today that most people take a break over the summer from their usual fitness routines. She said, “Even I have to fight laziness because of scheduling changes.”
How can we get ahead of the summer slump and increase our fitness and freedom for what God has for us for the rest of the year? Consider a summer R.E.S.T. Plan as an opportunity to RESET:
1. Reflect
Reflect on your successes and challenges, both in your personal life and your leadership roles. Ask yourself:
– How have I grown as a leader, professionally and spiritually?
– Where have I lagged, and what can I learn from these experiences?
– What are the areas in my life and ministry that need revitalization in the second half of this year?
2. Exercise and Fitness
Don’t allow a change in scheduling to interrupt your progress. Keep moving and find creative ways to implement summer protocols for exercise and nutrition. This is a good way to stay on track and not have to undo everything that was lost over the summer months. Use the TMPx App for keeping up with your fitness goals, stay accountable with your band of brothers or sisters. What will you do to invest in your fitness this summer physically and mentally?
3. Spiritual Renewal
What new area is God calling you into spiritually? Where does He want you to grow your faith muscles. If you know your purpose, you won’t be satisfied to stay in a comfort zone. It is not just about taking territory on the outside, where is HE asking you to take new ground on the inside. Where is He asking you to deepen your trust and relationship with Him?
4. Time for Sabbath
Even though summer is a great time to get away with friends and family, some vacations can become over-packed with activities. Instead of re-creating, we need a vacation from our vacation. Where can you schedule time this summer to experience silence and solitude? Where can you be unhurried? Are you able to schedule a weekend or day long retreat?
Create a mindset of renewal and you will become that new person!
A Summer R.E.S.T Plan will lead to a place of reinvention. How will you reset and come through the summer changed and renewed for the second half of 2024?
In your corner,
Nadya
