This is International Women’s month! Since March 1911, we have celebrated the amazing women in our lives and their contributions that make the world a better place. It is fitting to recognize another holiday that is observed this month that commemorates the courage of a young woman.
Purim has been observed for over 2300 years by the Jewish people. What did this brave Hebrew woman do that is deserving of an annual holiday?
King Xerxes of Persia, under the wicked counsel of his top advisor, Haman, decreed that the Jewish people were to be put to death. His wife, Queen Esther, had concealed her Jewish heritage. Her cousin Mordecai advised her to allow her identity to be made known to the King to preserve the lives of her people, though it could cost her life. She called a fast and after 3 days of fasting, she received a strategy from heaven to approach the King and tell him the truth. She said, “If I perish, I perish”, and then moved by faith and courage, Esther came boldy forth with the truth and saved a nation.
How is God preparing you to steward the truth? Who will be set free because of your bravery and courage to step out and speak the things God has put in your heart?
I pray that we become more emboldened as God opens higher platforms of influence so that we would courageously speak truth. And who knows, you might be raised up for such a time as this!
We’re in your corner,
