Time for A Trim?

Pruning season was near and the owner told me they would look even more barren and grotesque. There were two principles regarding maximum harvest that I learned.

First, tougher conditions for grapevines, like dealing with less water and nutrients, basically puts them on survival mode. But guess what? That stress makes them produce smaller, more flavorful berries. Also, dealing with temperature fluctuations enhances the grape flavors. So, in a nutshell, tough times for vines mean they’re making top-notch grapes that end up creating seriously good wine!

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

John 15:5

Secondly, the pruning season may seem like harsh punishment, but it’s a necessary process to bear more fruit. It encourages the growth of higher-quality grapes, as the plant directs resources towards fewer clusters, resulting in more robust flavors. Trimming back is a strategic practice that promotes healthier vines, improved grape development, and ultimately, a more abundant and superior harvest. Does this sound familiar?

This is the hard but good practice of the 80/20 principle!
What new harvest do you need to make room for? What are you letting go of in 2024 that no longer serves you, in fact it distracts you? It may feel painful or barren at first, but doing the hard-good will take you from 30X to 100X.

In your corner,
Nadya
