It was historic: six weeks ago last Sunday, five NFL games were decided with seconds-or-less left on the clock! What happened? And why does it matter?
On November 12th, the Cardinals, Browns, Seahawks, Texans and Lions each kicked a field goal as time expired on the game clock. In all five contests, three points were all that were needed for each team to declare victory from the 60-minute games that had led up to the dramatic finales. Place kickers often don’t look the part of pro-football game-winners, but when it comes down to the wire… they can make all the difference.
Here’s where that sports story becomes personal, for you and for me: we’re at the Two-Minute Warning point on the Ministry Bowl game clock. There are only a couple of days left in 2023 to help us declare a “win” for The Master’s Program as we finish the season.
The year-end for non-profits is often a nail-biter. It always is for the team at TMP. We provide ministry to/for Christian Leaders all year long; most of that flows out without cost or obligation. We’re here to serve, always confident that God and our ministry community will provide the resources we need so that we can focus ourselves on giving spiritual value rather than on raising money.
Most of the contributions to our Annual Fund occur during the last month of each year. Just days remain of 2023; restoring the reserves that we draw from all year is the outstanding challenge. We still have a ways to go…
Here’s the invite, my friend: how about being our game winner by coming onto the field and putting the field goal through the uprights as the seconds tick down on 2024? We’re close, but close won’t win the game. Your “three points” may be just what God will use to give us a funding victory.
