Dear Friend of Master’s,

For the next four Thursdays, I’m going to send you an end-of-year challenge, based on our unique shared status as high-capacity leaders who are citizens of the Eternal Kingdom. Quick reads; I promise.

Jesus made truth simple; he always made God’s insight available to his followers who would have the Holy Spirit as an on-board clarifier who would teach us all things. No better instructor…

In the Parable of the Sower, Jesus explained that the same life-impacting truth – distributed to people – would produce different outcomes based on the issues that were operative in the recipients.

My objective has been clear: the Fourth Soil life of high-impact results is the ultimate life situation available to you, and to me. To produce 30, 60 or 100x returns is within reach, but those outcomes require faith that propels risk tolerance (no avoiding that) and obedience.

The Third Soil is prevalent; always has been. According to Jesus, “The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful.” (Matthew 13:22).

My quick jab this week: the Enemy is working to disable the eternal productivity of your life. His intent is to make you a Third Soil, unfruitful follower of Jesus. How does he do that?

“The worries of this life” – if evaluated without recognizing God’s commitments to your future – will drive you into strategies and tactics that imagine dire coming circumstances and a close-down of God’s promises and provisions. Worry about life, without God in your equation, and you’ll become a hoarder of your current capacities. Strategically stingy, driven by fear.

“The deceitfulness of wealth” – without recognizing God as the source of your abundance – will put you under the spell of a culture that rewards net worth and dismisses faith-driven distributions. Imagine your spiritual maturity, but the truth is more apparent to your CPA than to your pastor. “Those who trust in their riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf.” (Proverbs 11:28)

We’re bombarded by horrific headlines that are projecting coming gloom and doom. What’s your best defensive move in the face of the uncertainties awaiting us among global conflicts and a year of political warfare here at home?
